The 3D version of the 5th gunging was reuploaded to the 3D YouTube player to give you more options on how to view the 3D clip.

Choose from the following 3D viewing options:

Interleaved rows, columns, checkerboard and side by side options for 3D TV's and 3D Monitors

Red/Cyan, Green/Magenta and Blue/Yellow coloured glasses options for 2D-only TV's and Monitors

And Crosseyed video for watching on a 2D-only screen without 3D glasses.

Instructions on how to view the clips, recommended viewing settings and troubleshooting problems with viewing the 3D player are all available in the clip's description. Hope the increased selection of viewing options for the 3D clips benefits somebody as it took a couple weeks of trial and error to get the 3D YouTube Player to display the clips properly - it's a very fussy flash player.

Coming Next Week

The polls for which gunging from the next clip from the Slime Wars video to be released opens today. This vote is between the gungings of the Student Union's then Full-Time Paid/Sabbatical Women's Officer and the Voluntary/Non-Sabbatical Women's Officer that took place during R.A.G. Week to cross promote our week of charity events and their body image campaign. Despite the pictures below which were taken by a professional photographer at the event both clips only have the one camera angle that was featured in the Slime Wars video - this re-release will feature that same camera angle with the original audio and also a slow motion close up of the gunging.

You have until Friday 11th of March 23:59 (Greenwich Meantime) to vote for the one you want released next. The winning clip will be released late Sunday/Monday night.

Results and yet another vote...

Damn that was a close one! For the first three days the lead changed hands a lot but never was there more than a vote separating the two. But on day four one clip pulled ahead and though it didn’t manage to gain a lead exceeding nine votes and was nearly chased down on the last day. With only three votes in it this ladies and gentlemen was what you voted for:

And it’s a long clip this one. I honestly didn’t think it’d be this close – thought this clip was superior to the other one by a long shot.

AAAAAANNNNND because it was so nail bitingly close I thought what the hell let’s have another vote. This one will be more interesting as neither of these clips have been released before. They’re both from the Race Against Slime Gunge Tank shoots and they both feature the same victim albeit with different hair colour. Basically I shot one and then on a director’s whim decided the gunge tank should be decorated – and also I installed the two streams spraying down the face and front feature also then – and so I thought the first clip couldn’t be used on continuity grounds. And so my victim – who was an absolute star – agreed to go in the tank again without complaint. And both clips rank up there with my best so it’s up to you guys to choose which one you want next: do you want the first one with the single slime stream or the one with the slime shower and slime sprays down the front (which came as a surprise as she was the first to experience that hidden feature) – or the one with the undecorated tank or the one with the decorated tank. Here are two screenshots literally seconds into each of the gungings to help you decide. Register your vote at the side.

Finally apologies for the absence regarding uploading the winning clip and posting the next part of the ‘Origins of Race Against Slime,’ to the blog, I had a nasty run in with Campylobacter which without going into the gory details included the highlights of severe dehydration and internal haemorrhaging which contributed to some mild tachycardia it gets messy after that.

R.A.G. Gungings Vote

There are three more videos of the Gunge Tank in action for the Race Against Slime series but I've also had requests for the first video Slime Wars from the R.A.G. to have the individual gungings put up with audio and with extended editions in certain cases so next week I shall be release the first of these reposts.

But the question is which one first? In the side bar of this blog beneath the About Me and above the Video Bar you'll see a poll for you to register your vote for which one I shall release next Wednesday. Both of these clips have never seen before camera angles and also a very heavily edited but shakey close-ups. So which is it to be?

Option A: The Super Slime Challenge - Our victim takes the four horrible slime recipes - the Gunge, the Kong Snot, the Alien Drool and the Quickslime from the Quad Tank.

Or

Option B: The President Gets It - The then R.A.G. President gunged in the prototype to the Giga Gunger Tank.

The Origins of Race Against Slime - The Adventure Begins

Well our story begins in the historical city of Lancaster or more specifically the university campus just outside. For the hero of this tale (yes I am that egotistical) it was only the first week of his second term at university. He'd wandered into the foyer of Furness College to pick up a couple copies of the SCAN, the student union's newspaper, to take a look at the first article he'd had published in it. Now I say article it was more an advertorial for the events R.A.G. (Raising And Giving) society had coming up in the term which as the Vice President at the time I'd been charged with writing. But see as it made page 3 of the news section I officially count that as my debut in journalism.

It had been shaping up to be a pretty boring day so after checking to see if the article had made the copy I decided to read through the rest of the paper but I didn't have to look far... OK it was actually in the column next to my article but that is beside the point. There was an article reporting that a post graduate was trying to start up a student television station on campus. Despite Lancaster's BailriggFM being the first student radio station in the country to broadcast on FM way back in the 60's or 70's, Lancaster had since fallen WAY behind nearly every other university when it had come to student media.

Anyway I read it through and discovered that they were going to be having a meeting with all those interested in 15 minutes time. Legging it across campus I made it to the meeting which had just under 50 people turn up. It started with the usual stuff for a new student venture: thinking up a name, asking if anyone is good at graphics editing to create a logo and that sort of thing. Later it turned out that we couldn't be made a society by the student's union until we'd actually produced something to show we just wouldn't collapse within a few weeks. So the decision was made that we were going to try and make five pilot shows working on the basis that even if most of the shows never materialised - students can be an unreliable breed - we'd still have something produced to show the union.

So then came the next brainstorming session... how about a student news show, how about a documentary, how about a cooking show (this show would later cause me a bit of embarrassment) and so on and so on. All of it sounded somewhat boring and unoriginal. No drama, comedy or entertainment show proposed at all. So I thought what would be both interesting and easy to make. So I proposed a gameshow. After there was a vote for which 5 shows to be created, of which mine obviously was given the go ahead, directors/producers were to be assigned to each show. Again obviously I volunteered myself to produce the gameshow. And then it was up to the 50+ people to go a form groups around the producer of each show that they wanted to help make.

Now the first clue that this was going to be a major ball ache to produce was that whilst more than half of the people decided they wanted to make a documentary brown-nosing the university to tell prospective students what a great place it was, only four people wanted to create a gameshow - myself included. But out of that documentary and my gameshow only mine ever got produced, just goes to show it isn't really how many people you've got helping you but how dedicated they are.

OK so there we were four of us. The smallest group of the lot. After signing up for free membership to the TV station (a bonus for turning up to the first meeting) and filling out a form saying who was producing what we decided we'd clear off to the fast food restuarant on campus to start discussing what the hell we were going to do.

It was whilst sitting around a 14" Meat Combo pizza that I was to say the immortal words, "How about we make an adventure gameshow?" that was to become a catchphrase during the nightmare that was to come...
